I saw wasps flying into the top of the gutters, my son told me they are mud wasps. Will they build nests in the gutters? Does anyone know if they are more dangerous then common wasps? Will I need an exterminator? any possibility they were just getting mud or a drink or something?

I would keep an eye on that area, if they are continuously flying around I would say they definitely have a nest. Just depends on how many there are as far as you taking care of them yourself or hiring an exterminator.

I'm not big on getting wasps mad at me. Good luck!

Mockingbird, where are you located?

I live in South Carolina and deal those alot. They are making a mud/dirt nest. They do not stay in those very long. Unlike the wasps that build honeycomb nest.
You will need to get rid of the nest, because it will leave a stain if left on a surface to long.

I'm in NY A-Plus, normally I see these wasps on stucco or brick finishs, I am thinking they are getting mud from the downspouts to build these. I didn't know they stained, most I have seen wash right off. We wait till the nights get cold and knock them down.

They stain stucco or lighter colored brick. Usually beige, yellow or white stucco will stain to the point you need to hand brush with some housewash mix to remove the stain.
