Is pressure washing something that a DIY can do? My son said he could rent me a washer from the home depot and do the job on a saturday? Not that he isn't a smart guy but he don't know thing about the equipment and I am afraid he will blow out a window. Is it hard to powerwash?

Pressure washing is a skilled trade. Most people do not realize how hard it is to do properly and to get good results until they try it. Others do not realize how much damage a pressure washer can cause when in inexperienced hands until it is too late.

Most DIY homeowners only think they are getting the surface clean but as a professional I've seen some homes that were cleaned by the owners that, in my opinion, could be cleaned again properly. Like anything else a DIYer is going to fall short of professional results almost every time.

Mockingbird,
I have seen in some of your other post where you have concerns about plants and other items and its great that you came here looking for answers from professional contractors. With all of these concerns, and I am not trying to discourage a possible DIY, you may want to think long and hard before tackling this youself or with your son. Rule of thumb...if you aren't comfortable with something, hire a pro.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate that. I have decided what I am going to try to do is the small porch in the front, nothing to get damaged and since the floor needs painting it won't hurt if the paint blows off. The rest I will probably hire someone for. Your right, the windows and the plants are a concern as well as the whole ladder thing
