Having been in construction for over 15 years, including roofing, I can tell you with confidence that you never want to pressure wash a shingle roof.
When excessive water pressure is used it blasts away many of the shingle granules that are there to protect the shingle, therefore it lessens the longevity of the shingles which ends up costing the home owner money.
To kill and remove black roof algae a low pressure chemical application of bleach and tsp is what is recommended by most of the major shingle manufacturers, followed by a light rinsing. |
