Yup, pressure washers work a dream on wooden benches. It works on plastic as well, but the amount of pressure and water you need to clean plastic is ridiculously high.

So do you need a stronger cleaner for the plastic stuff? We used a really mild one for the wooden benches as we didnt want to damage them.

Not necessarily. But the right cleaner will emulsify any dirt, mold, and mildew leaving you to only have to wash it clean with low to moderate pressure.
