| Where can I buy house washing cleaners/chemicals? Are these things found at your local home improvement store or do I have to find a specialty store? |

The big box stores and home improvement places sell bottled house wash as well as deck cleaner. The problem is that they are manufactured weak enough so they are safe for consumers to handle, unfortunately this makes them near worthless.
Most professional contractors make their own recipes for washing houses, decks, concrete, roofs, and other surfaces. |

| So if I call a professional to wash my house, they will use their own blend of house cleaner to get it clean? How do I guarantee that the stuff isn't toxic? Is there some sort of regulating body to ensure that the mix of chemicals isn't nasty? |

Yes most professionals will use their own mix of house wash chemicals which is a good thing. The unprofessional washers will just go by the worthless house wash cleaner that anyone can buy at the big box stores.
You just have to trust the pressure washing contractor and his chemicals just like any other industry. You have to trust a carpenter uses quality materials and that a quality painter will use quality environmental safe paints.
If you hire a pressure washing company that is professional, has a huge client base, that as been in business for some years, and probably has washed hundreds of houses then I would say it is safe to assume they are not using something toxic, nasty, or ineffective to wash houses with. But on the other hand, if you hire a super cheap company like a handyman offering pressure washing or a guy doing it on the weekends for extra beer money then you might be taking a chance. |
