One gutter I have, the drain for it has a significant bend in it. Basically, it goes down one foot from the gutter along the roof, then makes a 45° turn towards the house, then another 45° turn away from the house, and is vertical until it reaches the bottom.
Now, because of how the roof is, I'm having a lot of difficulty cleaning out whatever is blocking it. Do you have any recommendations? |

On stubborn gutter downspout blocks like that you can stick a running garden hose up into the end of the spout from the bottom to break the debris loose. If it still doesn't work do the same thing from the top of the downspout, feed the hose down in there as far as possible or until the blockage breaks free.
We have done some where we have feed our pressure hose down into the downspout just to add a little pressure to help force it loose. The stubborn ones are usually sticks, pine cones, and/or a bird nest. Just keep working at it and you'll get it.
If all else fails you can always remove the spout from the house and disassemble it to get it working again. |

Yeah, it was tricky to get the pressure washer down the gutter without falling to my death, but it worked perfectly.
Thanks, that thing was causing me a lot of Hell with it's slow trickle and the rest of the gutter being flooded. |

After cleaning out the gutter, I'd find out to built it this way and then beat some sense into the person...unless of course that person was you. LOL. Don't people consider the ramification of stuff that they build? Sheesh. |

| Most of the time no they don't. They just want to knock it out and get paid. |

| I've had the exact same experience where my gutter was clogged at the bend and I couldn't seem to dislodge it. Great suggestion with the hose - I tried that the other day and it worked perfectly.....I was not happy with what came out the other end though - some decomposing squirrel was (unhappily) lodged in my gutter.....how it got in there I'll never know. How small can they make themselves and what could possibly be so exciting about my pipe???? |

| Well, use your hand and double vinyl in a gutter and keep it there for 10 seconds. Finally found the tool to wash and clean the gutters of the earth. The cleaning of the canal - bend, twist or turn that. The closed system design makes it impossible for debris to enter unlike the reverse curve products like Gutter Helmet, LeafGuard, K-guard, and GutterShutter. |
