I know we have heard since birth "safety first", but when it comes to power washing, you can't stress it enough. I was working on a house when I first started out. I had my ladder propped up and was washing away minding my own. All of a sudden the house started getting taller. My ladder had started sliding and slid until it hit an extension on the house and stopped. Come to find out, the "no slip rubber shoes" on my ladder ends were gone. I wanted an excuse to get a new ladder anyway, so I went and got one (on the excuse of safety ) For you DIYers, if you feel uncomfortable about it don't do it! I know how hard that is because I am a DIYer for a lot of things and I know how hard it is to either ask for help or hire someone else. When it comes to safety though, thats a whole different ballgame. I would much rather hire a pro than risk my life. Make sure you protect your skin, eyes, and lungs. Some things can damage you permanently and ruin your property. Any one else feel free to add to this. I'm just "typing out loud" so to speak about safety issues that come to mind. |

Great advise Daniel, I agree with you that for most pressure washing and ladders don't mix. Its dangerous enough just being on a ladder, throw a high pressure wand in your hand and now you have a recipe for disaster.
Probably the most dangerous work we do is roof cleaning. I don't recommend anyone to be on a wet roof spraying cleaners. Even experienced contractors with the proper fall gear are at high risk. |
