|

| Depending on the situation an older deck can be brought back to life. As long as the boards aren’t too warped or rotted, getting rid of all the gray dead wood fibers is not a problem. Some sanding may be essential before it is sealed and your deck cleaning company may offer those services also. If there is some structural damage a deck company could probably do some repairs for you before having it cleaned and sealed. A quality deck cleaning company should be able to make an assessment of your deck before attempting to restore it, that way you know what to expect. |

| Am I limited to summer for having my deck cleaned and sealed? I missed the opportunity and want to get as much of the process done now before it starts to snow. Are there weather time lines I should abide by? |

It depends on your area. Most wood sealers warn that the product should not be applied if temperatures are expected to be below 40 degrees within 48 hours of application. So basically, if it is dipping down below 40 at night then you should wait until spring before sealing the wood.
As far as cleaning the wood, this should be done within days of sealing it. So if it is too cold to seal, I would hold of on cleaning the wood otherwise you would just have to clean it again in the spring before sealing. |
