|
|
With tile roofs becoming very common in Myrtle Beach. I've seen the need for tile roof cleaning. To add this service, A-PLUS Pressure Washing
set up a labor for learning with one of the most respected roof washing companies in the U.S.
All Seasons Exteriors of Orlando Florida was gracious enough to let me come work with them to learn the nuisances of tile roof cleaning. I have washed many asphalt shingle roofs, but until that time no tile roofs. It is one of the most valued experiences for my company.
To be one of the top pressure washing companies, I feel you need hands on experience from quality contractors. |

That is great advice and a smart business move to network and work hands on with another established roof cleaning company. I can imagine how priceless that experience was.
We don't have many tile roofs in my area, only asphalt shingles. What would you say is the biggest difference between the two in terms of cleaning them? |

The biggest difference between asphalt roof washing and tile roof washing
is, making sure the edges or lips of the tile are hit with cleaner.
Tile roofs are so much thicker and those edges have to be hit. Your cleaners need to be a little stronger for tile roof also.
You also have to rinse/wet landscaping and windows a little more due to higher concentration levels in your cleaning solution. |

Barry, I couldn't agree more. I know A-PLUS Pressure Washing would not be where it is today if it wasn't for contractors helping contractors.
A very special Thank You goes out to Midwest Prowash. Barry and his family were instrumental helping me get started in this business 3 years

You are very welcome David. It works both ways, you taught me a lot to. Networking and hands on training is the best of both worlds. It helps both parties involved and it can shave years off of the learning curve.
Now A-PLUS Pressure Washing is a professional, experienced tile roof cleaning company in Myrtle Beach, SC. |

| David, when walking on tile roofs in South Carolina, is there any precautions you have to take? Have you ever done a slate roof? |

Don, you need to walk on the valley of them, where they overlap.
If you walk on the barrel, they are more apt to break.
No, i have not done a slate roof as of yet. There's always
a first time though. |

| Hey A-PLUS (or whoever reads this), does a Chlorine + Jomax + Dish Detergent mix make for a good chemical to use on the tile roofs? |

You are wasting money if you are buying Jomax.
Roof mix....
6% Sodium hypochlorite. Best found by buying 12% and cutting in half with water.

Hey APLUS- What is the best way to apply the chemical? The way I see to do it is by working your way bottom- up, spraying the lips as you move, and keeping the chemical in front of you rather than walking on it and possibly slipping?
After applying and letting it soak, can you just rinse it down from top to bottom? Is it more of a rinse or is pressure applied? I currently use a fire hose nozzle attachment connected to a garden hose. Your thoughts?

Hey Joe. Yes, starting from the bottom up is the way to go any roof.
Also pull enough hose to reach the whole roof and start at the furthest point away from your ladder.
Tile is so much more slippery than asphalt.
I don't rinse most of the roof I do. If they are a very light color, I will rinse.
You want to water down everything alot more due a heavier concentration of mix. |

I give a quick spray around the ladder first. That way, by the time I walk back to the ladder, that area is not slippery anymore |
