I realize that many contractors and home owners across the country don't face the challenges that some of us do in the southeast, but the approach to cleaning tile roofs is somewhat different than asphalt shingle roofs. The chem concentration needs to be bumped up and the safety factor is doubled at least. Just a little FYI for those who might come across them.
Good luck and be safe!

Good info Don and something to think about.
I would image its a little tougher to get the chems to "cling" to the roof when dealing with barrel and flat tile roofing. Do you use additives to help with cling?
How does walking a barrel tile roof differ from walking an asphalt roof? Not taking pitch into consideration a barrel tile seems like it would be much more dangerous to walk. |

We usually add a mild surfactant if necessary when the roof pitch is steep. Whether it's barrel tile, flat tile or whatever, it's extremely slick and dangerous compared to shingled roofs.
New and/or inexperienced roof cleaning contractors should never feel bad about passing on a job if they don't feel safe or think they don't have the necessary experience to do the job properly.
