I've had a request to clean the copper on the outside of a residence.
I would think it needs to be done by hand(very time consuming) and theres no spray and go technique for this.
Am I right?

By hand I would have to charge $65 - $100/hr depending on the # of people I've brought in to get the job done.

You are right in thinking it's very time consuming. Figuring out your estimated man hours and charging accordingly is really all you can do.

Wow I have no idea why someone would have cooper outside. What a job, I do have cooper inside and I will tell you it is a chore keeping it nice. There are sealers that can be applied so you don't have to do it as often. I use a paste cleaner and alot of elbow grease.

Is outdoor copper an aesthetic thing? Because it seems impractical. Then again iron seems like a good option but how do you keep it from rusting out in 2 seasons? A family member has a copper grill and while it looks very nice with sand stone accents, the metal is relatively new but already looks a mess. Does this type of metal have to be covered, how often and when does it have to be looked after?

I'm not aware that the metal needs to be covered but I'm sure people that have the money to have copper accents on their home also have the money to have it maintained.
