A power washer can have a lot of uses around your property. Some home owners insist on doing their own power washing projects. Here are some power washing tips to consider before cleaning up your property.

1. Always wear the proper personal protective gear (eye wear, gloves, and ventilation mask).

2. Be sure to check the oil level in your power washers engine and pump before starting it.

3. Make certain to hook up your garden hose and supply water to the power washer before starting it.

4. Check all pressure hose connections to be sure they are properly fitted and secure.

5. Check to make sure the power washers exhaust is free of debris, not too close to any surface that could melt and that there is adequate ventilation.

6. After starting the pressure washer, don't allow the unit to run for more than a minute without circulating water through the pump, this is accomplished by pulling the trigger on the wand, not doing so can overheat the pump.

7. When changing wand nozzles be sure the nozzle is fully seated in the quick connect, you should be able to spin the nozzle while not under pressure if its seated correctly.

8. Always point the wand in a safe direction before pulling the trigger.

9. Don't get too close to surfaces that may be damaged by too much pressure, such as vinyl siding or wood.

10. Never point the wand tip at yourself or anyone else, even a few hundred PSI can cause injury.

11. Change the power washers pump and engine oil at least once a season.

12. Be sure to antifreeze the pump if the power washer is to be stored outdoors in cold climates.

13. Don't take on any projects you don't feel comfortable doing, it's better to leave some projects to an exterior cleaning company.
